Candidate filing is underway for the 2026 election, when Robeson County voters will cast ballots in national, state, and local elections.
The filing period began December 1 and ends at noon on December 19. The Border Belt Independent will update this list as more candidates file.
The primary is March 3, and the general election is November 3.
Here are some takeways as of December 10:
- No one has filed to challenge incumbent state Sen. Danny Britt or state Rep. Brenden Jones. Neither has anyone filed to run against John Lowery, the Lumbee tribal chairman who was appointed to a state House seat in October.
- Sheriff Burnis Wilkins and Matt Scott are unopposed.
- At least three county commissioners will face challengers.
