When it snows in southeastern North Carolina, it’s a really big deal.
In the Border Belt counties of Bladen, Columbus, Robeson and Scotland, social media users posted images from their communities.
While the snow might be an exciting opportunity to experience a winter wonderland, state officials are urging caution on the roads.
“During winter weather, just like in any severe weather situation in our state, our number one priority is keeping people safe,” N.C. Gov. Josh Stein said Tuesday. “Please continue to monitor local weather reports, keep off the roads if you can, and stay prepared for possible power outages.”
Don’t expect a major warmup in the next few days. The temperature in Lumberton is expected to dip down to 13 degrees overnight Wednesday, and the expected high on Thursday will be 38 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
